Sterling silver three-barred Russian pectoral Cross

   
This pectoral cross reproduces a seventeenth-century Russian design that depicts God the Father, the Holy Spirit as a dove, and adoring Angels at the top; the sun and the moon at the extremities of the arms; the lance and the reed with the sponge on either side of Christ; the cityscape of Jerusalem on the suppedaneum; and the skull of Adam at the bottom, as Christ, the New Adam, was said to be crucified where the first Adam was buried.
