A volume of Contemporary Traditionalist Orthodox Thought

“For some time now, I have felt the need for a volume of essays that touch on Eastern Orthodoxy from the standpoint of Her Own self–conception; indeed, from the ‘traditionalist’ standpoint, in the spirit of the ‘Patristic Revival.’ Both in lecturing and teaching at a seminary and in a college, I and other colleagues have found it possible to bring the Orthodox witness to non–Orthodox students by way of the various introductory surveys available and in a general, referential context. Our students have come to know, for example, how Orthodox view faith and good works in reference to the views of various Protestant and Roman Catholic writers on the subject. They come to understand the seven sacraments as the Orthodox see them, and come to an all–too–limited apprehension of how the Orthodox position contrasts with the positions of the Western confessions. One suspects that many Orthodox, attempting to understand and capture their own beliefs, know little more of their Faith that these students.”
