Translated from the Greek

A volume of The Great Synaxaristes of the Orthodox Church

“Ananias, the apostle of Christ, lived at the time that our Lord Jesus Christ was found bodily on earth. He was an eyewitness of the Logos and the Passion, and an initiate in the mysteries of His wonders, as He taught His flock to worship the Trinity in three hypostases. Ananias resided in Damascus, where he led that Church as archpastor, after following the commands of the Teacher Christ that he be consecrated a hierarch. In the Acts of the Apostles, Saint Paul lauds Ananias, saying, ‘Ananias is a pious man according to the law, whose character is approved by the testimony of all the Jews who dwell in Damascus [Acts 22:12].’”
—“On the 1st of October, the holy Church commemorates the holy Apostle ANANIAS”
